Zombie Librarians Invade Toronto Public Library

It’s A Screamer In The Stacks On Halloween
For The Third Annual Hush Hush Party

(October 7, 2015) – Zombie librarians take over Toronto Public Library as goblins and ghouls roam the stacks of the Bloor/Gladstone Branch for the third annual Hush Hush party on October 31 – Halloween. Since the inaugural Hush Hush in 2013, this event has raised over $125,000 in support of the Toronto Public Library.

Hosted by Toronto Public Library Foundation’s young patrons group New Collection, the Halloween-themed Hush Hush party is sure to be a screamer in the stacks of the recently renovated 102-year-old library. With over 100 years of history, some of the library’s own ghastly spirits might be spotted floating through the stacks.

Brave partygoers will enjoy a “scar bar” with expert ghoulish makeup application; crystal ball, tarot card and palm readers; devilishly tasty food from chef Matt Basile of Fidel Gastro’s; an oyster bar from master shucker Patrick McMurray; spooky specialty cocktails including Vampire’s Kiss, Brain Hemorrhage and Smoking Skulls; and exciting prizes for the best and most terrifying costumes.

“Over the past two years Hush Hush has become one of the must attend events for Toronto’s culturally connected young professionals,” says David Delaney, Hush Hush Co-Chair. “New Collection members have curated some great Halloween themed activations that will make for an unforgettable night! Not to mention the party also supports one of Toronto’s most important resources – the Library.”

Proceeds from the 2015 Hush Hush party will support the Toronto Public Library’s Young Voices program, which encourages creative expression amongst Toronto’s youth by connecting aspiring writers and artists with experts in the arts, improving literary and artistic skills and providing a window into potential career paths.

Tickets are $100 for New Collection members and $135 for non-members. To purchase, visit tplfoundation.ca/hush-hush. Food and beverage are included with the purchase of a ticket.

New Collection is Toronto Public Library Foundations’ young patrons group, connecting culturally curious individuals ages 19-45 with prominent writers, artists and intellectuals. To learn more about New Collection or to join, visit tplfoundation.ca/new-collection

Hush Hush is sponsored by TD, Delaney Capital Management, Bousfields Inc., M.S. Lamont and Associates and Penguin Random House Canada. Media sponsor is Toronto Life.
