JFL42 celebrates its 4th anniversary with the most successful year to date!

Over 43% growth in total attendance compared to 2014
with over 63,000 total Festival attendees!

Toronto, ON – October 5, 2015 – JFL42, presented by Air Canada in association with SiriusXM, welcomed to Toronto some of the biggest comedians in the world for 10 days of non-stop comedy at this year’s Comedy Festival from September 24 to October 3, 2015. Audiences rushed to see performances in record numbers with over 43% growth in total attendance compared to 2014.

The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts was home to eight headliners which included; Trevor Noah, just two days before the start of his new gig as host of The Daily Show; the incredible Bill Burr selling out two performances; John Mulaney and Hannibal Buress, two of comedy’s fastest rising stars; YouTube sensation Miranda Sings; television host extraordinaire Chris Hardwick and comedy pros Craig Ferguson and Patton Oswalt.

In addition to the headliner performances, comedy lovers of Toronto came out night after night to see 42 of the comedy worlds best and brightest. 11 venues all over the city were packed every night for hilarious acts, including; T.J. Miller, Iliza Shlesinger, Brian Posehn, Rachel Feinstein, Gilbert Gottfried, Rhys Darby, Kurt Braunohler, John Hodgman, Tony Hinchcliffe, Nikki Glaser and so many more! Audiences also enjoyed some outstanding podcasts from Pete Holmes, Moshe Kasher, Jake and Amir, Ari Shaffir, YouTube star Grace Helbig, T.J. Miller, Doug Benson, Crimson Wave and Robert Kelly.

SiriusXM held their annual Top Comic competition hosted by Ben Miner at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on October 1st with Derek Seguin from Montreal winning the contest and being awarded $15,000, a TV spot at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal next Summer and a showcase at next year’s JFL42. Runners up included Matt Billon of Vancouver and Jordan Welwood of Winnipeg. SiriusXM also had multiple shows broadcasting live from JFL42 over three days of the Festival. Many of the JFL42 acts appeared as guests on the shows, which included; Ben Miner, Ward & Al and The Todd Shapiro Show.

JFL42 is a pass-based interactive comedy festival created by Just For Laughs. Pass holders are given the opportunity to see headliners and all of the 42 Festival acts over 10 days, along with the freedom to create their own schedule and experience. In turn, the demand created by pass holders for each of the Festival acts dictates how many shows each comic will perform and the size of the venue. It’s all processed through JFL42’s custom online reservation system and Festival App.
